Since 2011, your donations have allowed HOSA to award 45 scholarships valued at over $65,000. HOSA is thrilled to invest in the advanced education of these deserving Ocean Springs students.
The scholarship program is named for two beloved, longtime HOSA members Joe Tinney and Jean Griffies. A committee of HOSA members, guided by chairman Peggy Stowers, participated in the selection process this year. The HOSA Tinney-Griffies Scholarships are awarded annually to impressive students who are selected from an application process that includes a review of their student transcripts, an assessment of their plans and needs, an original essay and an in-person interview.
“If you want to feel good about the future of our Ocean Springs community and our country, all you have to do is serve on the HOSA Scholarship Committee and meet the outstanding students we interview,” says Peggy Stowers, project chairperson. “Our members believe there is no better investment than in the education of our deserving youth. The only downside to serving is that we always long to award more scholarships than we have available funds,” she concluded.
The Historic Ocean Springs Association is a local non-profit organization whose mission is to promote, preserve, and protect the unique charm of historic Ocean Springs. Donations to the HOSA Tinney-Griffies Scholarship fund are tax-deductible, and appreciated year-round.
