Poly-Illumination sculpture
Promoting the arts in Ocean Springs
HOSA led the 2018 effort that brought the stunning public art installation Poly-Illumination to the grounds of The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center at 1600 Government Street. "Poly" as she has become affectionately known to fans, is an aluminum laser-cut sculpture created by artists Colin McQuilkin and Bryan Milling, both of Ocean Springs. Installed in September 2018, this public art project was led by the Historic Ocean Springs Association, in partnership with the Feder Foundation for the Beaux Arts, The Friends of The Mary C, and the City of Ocean Springs. The project was also supported through a grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, and in part, from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Donations were received from many generous HOSA members and others in the community. Contributions for the project also came from the PAPOS: Public Art Project of Ocean Springs and from the 100 Women organization. In the day, the sculpture gleams as a beacon of creative energy. At night, the illuminated sculpture delights with glowing, changing colors.
